Here are some important rules for this year’s tournament
This is a Division C (High School) tournament only. All events will be run at the STATE level, and all rules clarifications will match those posted on the National Science Olympiad website.
Those of you who have been to College Hill before know that parking in this area is notoriously difficult. Unfortunately, the University cannot offer parking for buses in campus lots. Since the competition begins quite early on Saturday morning, there should be ample street side parking (metered and unmetered) close to the competition buildings. Additionally, for a fee of 15$ for the day, parking for cars will be available in the Power Street Parking Garage. This is a little bit of a walk from the main campus (~10 minutes). We recommend that buses and cars drop students off, close to their home base building, and then go find parking on the street or in nearby lots.
Registration will take place in the Campus Center located at 75 Waterman Street. Coaches should report here first thing to obtain competition wristbands, hand in any outstanding waivers, and check in for the day. Wristbands must be worn by students in order to compete in an event. They will be checked upon entry to event rooms.
We did our best to keep events confined to as few buildings as possible. That being said, we understand that it is very easy to get lost especially when moving quickly during adjacent event time slots. For this reason, we will be providing campus maps upon check-in, as well as stationing volunteer guides at the Campus Center and around as many of the competition buildings as possible. Also, linked below is Brown’s online map. We highly encourage coaches and students to locate buildings before arriving on campus so that you have an idea of where you will be located in relation to event buildings. If you still find yourself lost, any Brown student will be more than happy to point you in the right direction!
